Happy Tuesday! I know, I know…I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus. It’s funny how much your life speeds back up when you come back from a foreign country and you have to do homework again…and actually drink water instead of wine…what even is that?
Well, this week on justyouraverageshrub, I thought it would be fun to do a special home edition! I finally have my own room to decorate and let me tell you I am HYPED about it. I have been dreaming about decorating my dream room since 2011. (Feel free check out my Pinterest profile if you need proof.)
Okay, let’s talk savings– pictured above, you’ll see a #rustic metal shelf I bought from none other than the Swedish super store, IKEA. The shelf, a.k.a. “Hyllis,” rocks my freakin’ world AND it was only $14.99. Yes people, I know! #turnup for IKEA.
This shelving piece really ties my whole room together and it gives me a lot of creative space to place my knick-nacks, momentos, souvenirs–what have you. This is a big deal because if you know me, you know I own 1.5 million random trinkets…so this gives me a great opportunity to display them!
The only downside is that you have to put the shelf together yourself, BUT don’t let that discourage you because it was super easy with the help of my bestie. (Shout out to you Kayla Girl!)

I can assure you that you can make your knick-nack corner as #fleek as mine is with just a lil lovin’ and a sweet sweet Hyllis. But… if the Hyllis isn’t your jam, no worries. IKEA has a lot of other fun things that you can get for cheap to decorate your room to fit your perfect aesthetic!
